Mari-Anneli Sarkkinen & Northern Jazz Cruisers take the listener on a  journey through the moods of Nordic jazz – to places where the Northern Lights dance and silence speaks more profoundly than words. This Oulu-based ensemble of professional musicians blends skillful playing, soulful interpretation, and a multi-layered musical language with Nordic melancholy and the freedom of jazz.

The band highlights northern artistry and mindset, and their repertoire focuses on Nordic melodic jazz, featuring music by artists such as Viktoria Tolstoy, Sinne Eeg, Rigmor Gustafsson, and Johanna Iivanainen. The audience will also catch subtle influences from folk music. Northern Jazz Cruisers will be joined by guest saxophonist Jimi Ahlroos, originally from Oulu, who has made a name for himself in the Helsinki area with his strong musicianship and charismatic presence.

Northern Jazz Cruisers create space for the listener to breathe, feel, and immerse themselves in a narrative jazz experience.
