Oulu Delta Art Days

20.8.
Oulu Arts' Night will celebrate the European Capital of Culture year by transforming into Oulu Delta Art Days for the weekend 21–23 August. Instead of a single, tightly packed evening, the cavalcade of creative activity will unfold over three days along the Oulujoki River, stretching from Turkansaari all the way to Nallikari. At the same time, the city will be tuned up for the Delta Life Grand Finale taking place the following week.

Oulu Delta Art Days presents a cross-section of what is happening in Oulu’s cultural life in 2026. The event offers an opportunity to take part in the official European Capital of Culture programme also for artists who have not otherwise applied in the programme. We also want to experiment with what Oulu Arts' Night might look like as a three-day event.

Oulu Delta Art Days operates in the same spirit as Oulu Arts' Night: Oulu-based cultural associations, independent artists, and the city’s art institutions present their works, productions, and expertise on a voluntary basis and mainly free of charge to the public. Oulun taiteiden yö ry curates the programme and markets the events as part of the Oulu August Festivals.

In line with the name of the event, individual performances and works will take place in the immediate vicinity of water: the venue must have a connection to the delta area. During spring and summer, both venues and performers will be gathered, and the programme will be published progressively as events are confirmed.

There will also be plenty of other activities in the Oulu River delta on the same weekend, including the multi-sport youth event Barents Games, the Kajo Flower Festival in Hupisaaret, and the acrobatic performance Ylitys (Crossing).

Oulu Delta Art Days is part of the official Oulu2026 European Capital of Culture programme.
