Oulu August Festivals take responsibility for its environmental impact.
Each August, the Oulu August Festivals' events bring up to 60,000 visitors to the Oulu region. While the boutique festivals are small, art-focused cultural events, together they have a significant impact, especially in terms of communication.
Oulu August Festivals aim to reduce their environmental footprint. At the same time, environmental awareness is promoted by raising it among staff, volunteers, visitors, and partners. In preparation for Oulu’s year as the European Capital of Culture in 2026, the impact and methods extend to the European level. Environmental efforts are carried out in a systematic and long-term manner, step by step.
Oulu August Festivals aim to lead the way in sustainable development in the event sector, helping to preserve both the northern urban environment and natural surroundings as vibrant sources of inspiration and relaxation.
Since 2018, Oulu August Festivals have held the EcoCompass environmental certification.
