Oulu August Festivals end with four-hour choral cavalcade

Choir Day brings together Oulu’s choirs and vocal ensembles on Friday, August 29. A total of 19 groups will take part, ranging from small trios to full choirs of 40 singers.

A new highlight this year is a choral cavalcade in the banquet hall of Oulu City Hall, where choirs and ensembles will perform continuously for four hours starting at 17:30. Visitors can drop in for individual performances or enjoy the entire cavalcade. All 19 groups will appear in the cavalcade. In addition, performances will also take place in the City Hall lobby and on the outdoor steps.

Throughout the day, ensembles will also perform in cafés and restaurants across Oulu between 15:00 and 21:30. Venues include Hemingway’s Rotuaari, Teerenpeli, Konditoria-Kahvila Sofia, Café Kaari at the Oulu Art Museum, Kahvila Kiikku, Jumpru Pub, Oluthuone Leskinen, and Frans & Camille.

All events are free of charge. The artistic director of Choir Day is Oulu-based choir conductor Kristian Heberg.

The event is organized in cooperation with Oulun Energia.

The full schedule by venue can be found on the Choir Day event page: www.oulunjuhlaviikot.fi/en/main-event/choir-day/
