Save the Bothnian Bay Day

Save the Bothnian Bay (Pelasta Perämeri) event will be celebrated on Baltic Sea Day, August 27th, at Kuusisaari and the Main Library Saari. This free-of-charge event offers a versatile program for all ages, featuring presentations, panel discussions, films, workshops, music, and a fair atmosphere. The day will conclude in the evening at RioLive with an immersive, musical multimedia event, Irina Björklund & The Shubie Brothers & Ari Heinilä: My Sea, Mitt hav, Minun mereni.

Come along and get inspired to protect the Bothnian Bay and the Baltic Sea!

The event is funded by Perämerenkaari ry, Minun Mereni ry, and Svenska Kulturfonden. The event is part of the Oulu August Festival and Delta Life.

  • 10 AM – 2 PM Save the Bothnian Bay event for children and youth (free admission)

Main Library Saari, Pakkala Hall

  • 12 PM What is futures studies, and how can it help protect the sea? Futurist Hanna Lakkala

  • 1 PM Baltic Sea Panel: panellists Essi Keskinen, Leo Stranius, Satu Räsänen, and a representative from ONE

  • 2 PM, 3 PM, and 4 PM My Sea / Mitt hav film screening (free admission), directed by Ari Heinilä

Main Library Saari, Laituri Space

  • Ocean Fair

  • Get Inspired by the Baltic Sea! Känn Östersjön! poster exhibition (free admission)
