Saturday's Muse Club: Valkea

16.8.2025

Saturday’s Muse Club offers a fantastic concert as the rising Oulu-based band Valkea takes the stage!

Valkea plays grand, expressive indie music and alternative rock. Their second album, Vedenjakaja (Watershed), was released in May 2025. This concept album captures moments that changed everything. It focuses on humanity's relationship with water and presents cinematic scenes of crises that shake both individuals and all of humankind. Valkea’s music has even been dubbed “climate rock” due to its frequent themes surrounding climate change.

Strong melodies and carefully crafted soundscapes form a clear throughline among the band’s diverse influences. Valkea blends and flirts naturally and unapologetically with elements of post-rock, metal, and electronic music. The five-member band makes extensive use of electronic instruments, and their biggest gigs and albums also feature a four-piece brass section. Since the release of their debut album in 2023, Valkea has quickly risen to play major festival stages, been selected as a featured artist on YleX’s Nosteessa program, and gained nationwide radio play as well as spots on key Spotify playlists.
