The Herd trio, led by vibraphonist Panu Savolainen and known for its distinctive ensemble sound, once again captivates with a new, beautifully minimalistic repertoire. Alongside Savolainen, the trio features ukulele bassist Mikko Pellinen and drummer Mikko Hassinen. Together, they continue to delve ever deeper into the sensitivity and intensity of acoustic performance, inviting the audience on an adventure of presence and connection that no artificial intelligence can replicate. True believers in the magic of live music, the trio’s upcoming album, set for release in spring 2025, was recorded in front of a small studio audience — literally as living, breathing music.

In addition to their trio work, Herd — which has released three albums — is known for curating the popular Herd Clubs and the highly acclaimed Jazzbasilli concerts with vocalist Aili Ikonen. Founded in 2009, the group quickly rose to become one of Finland’s most respected jazz ensembles. Over the course of their career, they have won the European Jazz Competition, served as the house band for the Pori Jazz Festival, and toured not only in Finland but also in countries such as Mexico, Australia, and Ethiopia.
