Helmi Antila Quartet

Helmi Antila is a captivating singer-songwriter, pianist, and violinist from Helsinki. In November 2024, she was awarded the Taimi Prize by the Finnish Jazz Federation as a promising young jazz talent.

“Helmi Antila is a musician who radiates light and inspiration to those around her. She is a multi-instrumentalist who masters her instruments with ease, skillfully combining technical virtuosity with artistic sensitivity. Helmi’s strong, distinctive voice and determined artistic vision give the impression of someone who does not follow ready-made paths but boldly forges her own,” described Henriika Steidel-Luoto, a member of the Jazz Federation’s award panel.

Helmi Antila Quartet, led by Antila and widely praised by audiences, is a group of talented young musicians performing original Finnish-language songs composed and written by Antila. Their music is centered on rich harmonic textures and honest, personal lyrics that explore themes such as youth, nature, love, and human relationships. The quartet’s members are also known from other bands, including Aija Puurtinen & Brooklynin satu, Peela, and Stance Brothers.

Antila’s highly anticipated debut album Kuvia nuoruudesta ("Pictures of Youth") will be released by Kuohu Records in March 2025. The quartet’s first single Kuka mä oon kun on yö ("Who Am I When It’s Night") was released in November 2024 and received positive attention from media outlets such as Soundi magazine and from musician-journalist Pekka Laine on his program Pekka Laineen Ihmemaa.
