Brian Eno is a multidisciplinary artist, a pioneer of ambient music, and—according to many—the most influential musician since The Beatles… He is also known as a champion of emerging technologies, and fittingly, the film at hand is built on generative AI embraced by Eno himself.

Director Gary Hustwit helped design the Brain One software, which generates a unique, never-before-seen version of the film for every screening. The film’s ethos draws a direct line to Eno’s extensive work in generative music, where he provides software with raw material and guiding parameters, allowing it to autonomously produce music—potentially endlessly. What emerges is a portrait of Eno primarily as an enabler of creativity. Brain One has access to hundreds of hours of interview and archival material, from which it can generate, by some estimates, tens of quintillions of variations.
