Oulu Youth Jazz Orchestra

Oulu Youth Jazz Orchestra is a joint youth big band of Madetojan Musiikkilukio and the Oulu Conservatory, consisting of 21 musicians aged 15–19. Many members of OYJO go on to pursue professional music studies, and former OYJO players can now be seen and heard in some of the leading ensembles in Finland. The orchestra is conducted by Jaakko Jauhiainen.

For 25 years, Spirit Of New Orleans (SONO) has been dedicated to performing New Orleans jazz as it is played today in the birthplace of jazz itself. The featured soloist in Oulu, Leroy Jones, is one of New Orleans’ most respected trumpet players, known for his unique blend of traditional and modern influences. At the heart of their repertoire are joy, energy, and a natural sense of danceability—without compromising musical quality or artistic depth.
