Assembly Presents: Demoscene

A demo is a programmed audiovisual work – a striking combination of technology, art, and music performed in real time. Demos are born out of passionate teamwork: coders, composers, and graphic artists join forces to create cohesive pieces that function within strict limitations of time and space, surprising audiences both technically and aesthetically.The demoscene emerged during the home computer boom of the 1980s and has since been an important part of Finnish digital culture. It has served as a breeding ground for many Finnish game developers and played a key role in the rise of the country’s game industry. For over 30 years, Assembly Summer has been at the heart of this subculture. Assembly Summer 2025 will be held at the Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre from July 31 to August 3, 2025.OMVF will present a curated compilation of the best demos of 2025.
