Join Oulu August Festivals' team this summer

Apply for a summer job with us to help create the most ambitious Oulu August Festivals ever. Oulu August Festivals culminate this year in a multidisciplinary, free-admission outdoor event, Delta Life Show, at the birthplace of the city. The Delta Life project reaches its peak in one of the flagship events of Oulu’s European Capital of Culture year.

We are looking for hardworking and proactive summer employees from diverse backgrounds who are eager to learn and gain new skills.

The application period ends on 27 February 2026.

Finnish language is not necessarily needed for all marketing assistants and photographers.


Production Assistants

We are looking for several production assistants to work on the productions of Oulu August Festivals and the Air Guitar World Championships. The tasks vary by period and may include distributing marketing materials (posters and flyers) in pairs around the city by bicycle and occasionally by car; conducting and updating visitor surveys at events; ticket sales; catering assistance; scheduling; transportation; guiding and ushering; customer service; merchandise sales; venue decoration, and other production-related duties.

One-month work periods begin on 7 July, 27 July, or 5 August.

The role requires, among other things:

  • initiative, willingness to learn, flexibility, and a sense of responsibility
  • confidence to take charge in different situations
  • a customer-service mindset
  • enthusiasm for cycling and walking
  • ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • confidence in approaching people (e.g. when distributing marketing materials)
  • Finnish language not needed for all trainees

Photography Trainees

We are looking for 4–7 individuals for versatile event photography during the periods 27 July–26 August and 5 August–4 September.

Requirements for the position:

  • Interest or experience in photography or videography
  • A good eye for visuals
  • Confidence and adaptability to handle various photography situations
  • Some ability to produce photo captions
  • Finnish language skills are not required for all trainees

Can I apply?

These are one-month positions intended for students over the age of 18, offered through the City of Oulu's summer internship program. Working hours are 30 hours per week, and the salary is €1.100.

You can apply for a City of Oulu summer trainee position if:

  • you are a student and will not graduate into a profession during the spring
    (students graduating from upper secondary school in spring 2026 are eligible to apply)
  • your municipality of residence is Oulu
  • you are at least 18 years old by 30 April 2026
  • you have not previously held a summer trainee position with the City of Oulu in 2024 or 2025

    • Which social media channels have you used for something other than personal accounts? (e.g., hobbies, school, or work-related)
    • Describe other communication skills and experiences.
  11. Other relevant experience: Describe other work, hobbies, or school activities where you gained experience or performed tasks that are relevant to this role.
